First team management update

We are delighted to confirm that John Woodward will continue as the first team manager of Coventry Sphinx Football Club after fellow joint manager Shaun Thomas stepped down at the end of the 2024/25 season.

John and Shaun succeeded Lee Knibbs at the Sphinx and led the club to our highest ever level, winning the United Counties League Premier Division South in 2022/23 and keeping us at Step Four in consecutive seasons.

John will take sole charge of our third season in the Pitching In Northern Premier League Midlands Division.

In light of Shaun’s departure, John has chosen to bring an assistant manager into his first team coaching staff.

Sphinx legend and vice-captain Louis Guest will continue his rehabilitation from the knee injury he sustained in February but has been appointed as our first team assistant manager.

We’re over the moon that John and Louis will be in the dugout in 2025/26 and wish them all the best for next season.
