Unlucky Sphinx

by Big Al

Rocester  2 v 0  Coventry Sphinx suffered a 2-0 defeat at Rocester. Sphinx defended supremely well and counter attacked well against a tough physical Rocester side. The first half was even with O'Neill pulling oof a good save in the 15th minute from Sterling. Sphinx had a couple of half chances but went I at half time level. Sphinx had the better of the 2nd half but one long ball over there defence was there undoing with Sterling hammering home the ball after O'Neill had pulled off a good save. Sphinx chnaged shape to 3-4-3 as they chased the equaliser with Atkins heading just over from a McNally corner and Rhodes done supremely well with a shot on the turn which sailed over. Rocester put the game to bed in the 94th minute with Sterling getting his second of the game.

It was a harsh result for Sphinx who battled and out fought there opponents in the second half. They have a chance to bounce back with a home fixture on Monday evening against Continental star at Sphinx Drive.
