Coventry Sphinx 1 v 2 Bridgnorth

On another day if Sphinx had taken their first half chances they might of travelled back from Bridgnorth with 3pts in their pocket but alas it was not to be.

The pitch like many others had took a battering from the rain and was not in the best of shape but was playable. Sphinx had the majority of the 1st half play and could of been 2 up after 20 minutes. Liam Mcnally had a volley superbly saved by the Bridgnorth keeper and Kiam Galdins had a effort cannon off the underside of the bar and away to safety. Sphinx had a scare on 30 minutes when a Louis Guest back pass took a bobble and keeper James Connolly mis-kicked but done well to recover. On 44 minutes Sphinx took the lead when Louis Guest scrambled the ball over from a McNally corner.

The 2nd half was role reversal with Bridgnorth lumping balls into the box a creating half chances which didn't worry the Sphinx goal. Sphinx job was made harder on 55 minutes when Harry white was sent off for a 2nd bookable offence. The inevitable happened on 59 minutes when Bridgnorth took advantage of Sphinx inability to clear the ball with Griffiths sweeping the ball past Connolly.

13 minutes later a corner to the back post led to Bridgnorth winner with Golding heading in. For the last 15 minutes with Sphinx reverting t a 3-4-2 they started to get a grip on the game causing Bridgnorth some worrying moments but it was not to be.
