Coventry Sphinx avoid relegation in their first Step Four season

Hinckley LR v Coventry sphinx

Stuart Guest

Coventry Sphinx’s first season in the Pitching In Northern Premier League Midlands division has come to an end with the team in 16th place. They stayed out of the relegation zone on goal difference after a narrow defeat against Hinckley Leicester Road, albeit with a significantly better goal difference than the teams below.

Sphinx can now look forward to a second season in the eighth tier of English football. Congratulations to John Woodward, Shaun Thomas, the coaches, the playing staff and everyone involved behind the scenes on another slice of club history.

The bottom two after 38 matches are Gresley Rovers and AFC Rushden & Diamonds, who will be relegated pending any possible reprieves, most notably due to the post-season withdrawal of Loughborough Dynamo.

Our plans for pre-season friendlies will be announced in due course. Thank you for your support in 2023/24.
